High Tech System

Unique Environmental Friendly Heating and Power System

The whole system was planned and designed by an engineering company in Germany. A German electrician team and our local electrician and plumber developed this top of the line system.

The house is supplied with heat and power independent of the public grid.

Control Panel:

This very handy custom built control panel is situated in the living area, beside the kitchen. It gives all information about all systems within the power and heating. For example, you can watch how much the sun is loading the batteries, or the percentage of load of the batteries, or the current power consumption, or the temperature in the water tanks and so on...

Power Sources:

Solar Panels:

48 Siemens Solar Panels with a capacity of 5 KW, installed on boat house roof and 12 new Solar Panels with a capacity of 5 KW, installed on the wood shed roof.

Inverters:

The five inverters are transforming the electricity from the batteries into 48 Volts DC.

New Batteries:

12 Batteries with 48 Volts and capacity of 1600 Amp/hours are loaded by Solar Panels, when sun is shining and by Generator on cloudy days.

Cummins Onan Propane Generator (5.5 KW) as backup:

Both systems charge a bank of batteries, which offer 48 Volts and a 1500 Amp hrs. capacity - charged by solar panels and generator.

Propane Boiler (35 KW):

This Viessmann gas fired hot water boiler is heating the water of the in-floor-heating pipes directly. We just use it on very cold days, or when we are not home.

Wood Stove (backup):

This super efficient 55 KW Köb Wood Stove was built in Austria. It is installed inside. It is heating the water in the two water tanks which is providing the heat for the in-floor-heating system.

Wood Chute:

A wood chute situated in the wood-storage-room (with exit to the wood-shed outside) is holding the firewood for the stove. Beside the opening there are two large wood shelves.
